The 23-year-old enjoyed a productive loan spell at Bolton during the previous campaign, scoring six goals and contributing several assists in 14 appearances before a knee injury brought his season to an early end. Despite that setback, the League One promotion winners are understood to be keen on signing him permanently.
However, journalist Alan Nixon reports that Championship rivals Millwall have now entered the picture, with the London club expressing interest in a deal. Celtic could reportedly consider offers in the region of £850,000 for the Republic of Ireland attacker.
Speaking recently, Martin O’Neill admitted Kenny’s long-term future has yet to be decided as the striker continues his recovery from injury during pre-season.
The Celtic boss said: “Johnny’s here at this minute. He’s got another three or four weeks before he’s fit. Like everything else, you’re waiting around for things to happen.
“I think Johnny did very, very well at Bolton. I think that Bolton were very impressed with him, I must admit. I will see when we get people into the football club, then we’ll have a wee look to see where we are.
“He looks as if he’s got stronger looking as well too in his time away.”
