Josh Coburn delivered a bittersweet return to the Riverside Stadium as Millwall came from behind to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 in a pulsating Championship clash.

The Teessiders started brightly and dominated the opening stages. Dael Fry opened the scoring with a precise header, giving Boro a deserved lead and leaving the home fans optimistic. Middlesbrough had chances to extend their advantage, with Riley McGree and Anthony Patterson involved in lively spells, but the visitors’ defence held firm.

After the interval, Millwall’s response was swift and relentless. Coburn, who left Boro last summer for a £5m move, turned the game around with a perfectly timed volley in the 58th minute, finding the net despite the desperate attempts of goalkeeper Sol Brynn. The momentum had shifted, and Millwall pressed relentlessly, forcing Middlesbrough to defend deep.

With just minutes remaining, Coburn sealed the win, calmly slotting home from inside the box to complete his brace and inflict a painful defeat on his former club.

The result lifts Millwall into second place, while Middlesbrough slip to third and remain winless in four games, leaving their promotion ambitions under fresh pressure.
