Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool return to winning ways this weekend, after scoring the opener in the club’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
The victory at Anfield saw Liverpool snap a run of five consecutive domestic defeats, in a much-needed boost to Arne Slot’s side. Salah’s strike was gift-wrapped to the Egyptian, as he capitalised on a poor pass from Emi Martinez to fire into the vacant Villa goal. It was a fourth goal of the campaign for the 33-year-old and one that set multiple milestones.
Salah’s goal was his 250th for Liverpool in all competitions, with the winger becoming just the third player in club history to achieve the feat.
He also equalled the record for goal involvements for a single Premier League club (276), now held jointly alongside Wayne Rooney.
Having previously recorded three goals and assists for former club Chelsea, Salah has now reached 279 goals and assists in the Premier League. He’s moved level with Frank Lampard in third place, with Rooney (311 in second place).
Salah still has some way to go to catch the all-time leader, however, in Alan Shearer. In addition to his record tally of 260 goals, Shearer provided 64 league assists to make it 324 goal involvements in the Premier League.
