Monaco confirm option in Wout Faes loan from Leicester City | OneFootball

Wout Faes has joined Monaco on loan for the remainder of the season, with the Ligue 1 club confirming an option to buy in the summer.

According to L’Equipe, the clause is valued between €5m and €10m, approximately £4.3m to £8.7m.

Leicester City could receive up to £8.7m if Monaco take up the option. Even the top end is below the £15m City paid Reims in 2022, but any fee above £3m would be recorded as profit under Profit and Sustainability Rules. Faes is due to have 12 months left on his contract in the summer.

The 27-year-old was expected to depart this month and completed the move on Tuesday. He needs regular top-level football to push for a return to Belgium’s squad ahead of the World Cup.

His debut could come on Friday when Monaco face Lorient in Ligue 1. They were second after 10 games, but have since taken just three points from 21 to slip to ninth.
