Wout Faes ‘to join’ Monaco on loan with option to buy | OneFootball

LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports that Wout Faes is close to leaving Leicester City for AS Monaco, with a loan and option to buy agreed and the 27-year-old due in the Principality on Tuesday.

The centre back has not played since November and was left out of the last three match-day squads.

Faes joined from Reims in 2022 and has made 135 appearances, a spell featuring two relegations either side of Championship promotion under Enzo Maresca.

Monaco are ninth in the league, and the move would swap a demanding Championship season for Ligue 1 and Champions League football.

City’s current centre-back options are Jannik Vestergaard, Caleb Okoli and Ben Nelson, with Harry Souttar injured.

Vestergaard suffered an ankle problem at Cheltenham Town last time out and is a doubt for the Coventry City derby this weekend.

Oliver Skipp has recently deputised in central defence and could provide the cover that allows City and Faes to part.
