Speaking at Friday’s press conference attended by Get French Football News, AS Monaco manager Sébastien Pocognoli confirmed that Eric Dier had sustained an injury, as initially reported by L’Équipe.
The publication revealed on Thursday that the England international had sustained a muscle injury that would rule him out for between two to four weeks. Dier has quickly settled since making the move to Monaco this summer.
The England international has made eight appearances for the Principality club, scoring twice, whilst he has also worn the captain’s armband, having been included in the ‘leaders group’ at the club. However, it was just days before a reunion against former club Tottenham Hotspur that he sustained the blow.
Pocognoli, ahead of Saturday’s match against SCO Angers, confirmed the injury, but did not give a timeline for the player’s return, nor did he reveal the exact nature of the injury, although GFFN understands that it is an injury to his right hamstring. In Friday afternoon’s session, Dier was in Monaco gear and present on the pitch although he was not involved in training.
Following a period of absence, Aleksandr Golovin and Aladji Bamba could both return this weekend.
