Monaco beat Marseille 2-1 at Stade Louis-II to rise from seventh to fifth in Ligue 1.

In the 59th minute, Aleksandr Golovin guided in Jordan Teze's cross to break the deadlock. Folarin Balogun then finished a counter to double the lead (74.). Amine Gouiri pulled one back from close range after Facundo Medina's ball (85.).

Les Phocéens carried the greater threat after the restart, registering 19 attempts with nine on target. Lukas Hradecky kept Les Rouge et Blanc in front with seven saves, denying Igor Paixão and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg among others.

Six minutes were added and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw a close-range effort blocked as the visitors pressed, but the hosts' defence held firm.
