Napoli fell 0-2 to Lazio at the Maradona, a bleak follow-up to the draw at Parma that has left their faint title hopes all but extinguished. Matteo Politano apologised, while Leonardo Spinazzola said the team were running on empty.

"Today we apologise for a horrible match in every sense," said Politano, via LaLazioSiamoNoi. "Today we were truly drained," Spinazzola told DAZN.

"We don’t feel we’re already in the Champions League, there are five matches left. We are not where we need to be yet," Politano added.

"It is the head that moves the legs, this was not physical fatigue. I saw a team that was completely flat," Spinazzola said.

"We believed a misstep from them could reopen everything," he continued. "With the Parma draw and Inter’s win, the flame went out completely."

"From Monday we must think only about winning next Sunday and securing our Champions League place."
