Napoli have confirmed Antonio Conte’s departure as head coach, making it official on Monday with the season complete.

The club confirmed the exit in a brief post on X, saying 'Grazie Mister Conte'.

Conte had already revealed his decision on Sunday night after a 1-0 win against Udinese on matchday 38. In a strange news conference he directly contradicted president Aurelio De Laurentiis over the merits of Inter Milan, the champions.

Conte, 56, joined in summer 2024 and delivered the Scudetto in his first season. His second campaign yielded second place in Serie A, well behind Inter Milan.

He leaves after 91 matches in charge, with 54 wins, 19 draws and 18 defeats. In the league his average of 1.99 points per game is the club’s third best of the 21st century, behind Luciano Spalletti on 2.10 and Maurizio Sarri on 2.16.

This season his main setback was Europe, with elimination at the Champions League group stage. That exit coincided with a downturn that left Napoli trailing a more consistent Inter in the title race.
