With hindsight, and even without it, Napoli are very happy, extremely happy, with the deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund.

And if they could go back, they wouldn’t change a single detail of their strategy: they would still have gone straight for the Danish striker without hesitation to cover for Lukaku’s injury.

All the obligations in the world aside, it’s worth remembering that the redemption clause becomes automatic in the event of Champions League qualification, for the fee already agreed with Manchester United – around €50 million in total.

But even if there were no such clause, Napoli would go ahead regardless, fully aware they’ve secured the centre-forward of both the present and the future.

Hojlund makes quick start to life at Napoli

So far for Napoli, the Danish forward has scored four goals in six games in all competitions, combining well with the likes of new teammate Kevin De Bruyne to add more dynamism to Conte’s front line.
