Napoli: ‘No offer’ for McTominay as contract talks ongoing | OneFootball

Napoli director Giovanni Manna says the club have received ‘no offer’ for Scott McTominay, and even if talks with the player’s camp are ongoing, a new contract is not a ‘current issue.’

Napoli director Manna provided the latest updates on the Partenopei’s transfers in an interview with SportMediaset (via TMW).

Several sources in Italy have reported that the defending Serie A champions are working on a contract extension for McTominay, but Manna admitted that negotiations are still not at an advanced stage.

“Scott is an important player for us. He’s happy to stay at Napoli, and he proves so when he plays, and in the way he lives in the city,” said the Napoli director.

“He has two years left in his contract, and we have a very honest relationship. We are talking, but it’s not a current issue. We are aware of Scott’s importance. We have received no offers, as the player has never expressed a desire to leave.”

Napoli sit third in the Serie A table, and one of their January signings, Alisson Santos, has had a fantastic impact with two goals in four Serie A appearances.

“He has had a positive impact because he has great humility and energy, and he is available to work,” Manna said.

“There is already an option to buy; there’s nothing we need to do.”

Alisson Santos joined Napoli on loan from Sporting CP during the winter transfer window. The Serie A giants’ option to buy is set at €16.5m.

Manna concluded the interview by praising coach Antonio Conte and confirming that the club are already making plans for the future with the Italian tactician.

“It’s normal, one always plans ahead. We’ve known each other for two years, and the work we’ve done has been incredible, said the Napoli director.

“In other circumstances, we wouldn’t have been third or would have won the Supercoppa. We look to the future with serenity and tranquillity.”
