Enzo Maresca was full of praise for match winner Joao Pedro as he addressed the media after the win against Tottenham.

Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners with Pedro scoring the only goal of the game, but it was far more convincing than the scoreline suggested.

The Blues were guilty of missing a number of chances, and Pedro could have had a hat-trick, whilst Jamie Gittens missed a huge chance with the goal at his mercy.

Enzo Maresca praises Joao Pedro

It was a big moment for Pedro as he scored his first goal in the league since the end of August, a six game scoreless run.

Pedro admitted after the game he was relieved to score, and hopefully he can kick on from here and find the back of the net on a more regular basis.

Owen Hargreaves believes Pedro can score 25 goals a season, and Maresca was full of praise for the Brazilian after the game.

“Joao has never been a problem,” he told his post match press conference.

“The problem with Joao is that he’s not training every day because of the problems he has. He is not 100% fit in every game.

“Joao is going to score goals. Against Liverpool, he was very, very good. We have Liam back now and we have more options.”

Liam Delap return huge for Chelsea

The Brazilian has had to play the majority of the season at number nine, largely in part to Liam Delap being sidelined with a hamstring injury.

However, Delap is now back, although he missed the game against Spurs after being sent of in midweek against Wolves.

Delap being back will allow Pedro to play off the striker, in a position where he’s been more effective this season, which should majorly benefit Chelsea as he’ll be able to get on ball more and have more influence.
