Newcastle United are considering a swoop for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Jorgen Strand Larsen, looking to bolster their forward line.
“Newcastle have strong interest in Wolves’ Strand Larsen as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak, per the Express & Star.
The Magpies are in a dire situation with star man Isak demanding an exit. There are not many players who can replicate his output.
However, the Newcastle transfer radar has landed on Strand Larsen, who took the Premier League by storm last season following his arrival from Celta Vigo.
Despite a much-criticised start, the 25-year-old bagged 14 goals and four assists in 35 appearances to help Wolves avoid relegation to the Championship.
Hailed by coach Vitor Pereira as a ‘team player’, Strand Larsen proved a pivotal piece for Wolves.
The 6ft4ins striker is a massive presence up top and could prove a worthwhile addition to the Newcastle ranks.
Other reports mention that Newcastle want Benjamin Sesko, who netted 13 league goals in the Bundesliga and will likely cost over €70 million.
However, Strand Larsen will be the better pick right now. Beyond the obvious cost advantage, Strand Larsen is already Premier League-proven.
His first season in England showed he can handle the physicality, pace, and tactical nuance.
Newcastle do not have time for adaptation curves or potential that might bloom in two years.
The Toons need someone ready to contribute immediately, especially if Isak departs. Sesko is undoubtedly talented, but he remains raw.
There is a reason why Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool ultimately stepped back after tracking his signature. He is not the finished article.
Signing him for over €70 million is a financial gamble Newcastle can ill afford.
Strand Larsen already knows how to bully Premier League centre-backs, link play, and chase down lost causes.
He is not just a target man. He presses, moves well in the box, and does not need a system built around him.
In a summer where Newcastle need to replace guaranteed output with minimal disruption, Strand Larsen makes far more sense than Sesko.
