Nolan Galves has completed his move to West Bromwich Albion and says he will bring attacking intent from right-back while staying alert defensively. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 23-year-old signed a four-year deal on Tuesday to become head coach James Morrison’s sixth summer recruit after an undisclosed-fee transfer.

French second-tier side Rodez had reportedly set an £850,000 asking price earlier this summer. Galves joined Rodez in 2024 from hometown club Sochaux, stepped up from the third tier to Ligue 2 and helped them finish fifth with a play-off spot, delivering eight assists from the right.

“I’m excited to be starting a new challenge here in England,” he said. “West Bromwich Albion is a very historic football club and I am proud to be part of this project.” “It’s great to be here and I’m looking forward to seeing the supporters in our stadium soon.”

He described himself as an attacking full-back who likes to get forward, while stressing he also enjoys defending, vital in the Championship.

His arrival eases Albion’s right-back search after former loanee Danny Imray was targeted but the Crystal Palace man instead chose Wrexham, with a £5 million move set to be completed.

Galves mostly operated as a wing-back in Rodez’s back five. He trained with Albion for the first time on Tuesday and could feature at Peterborough in Saturday’s final pre-season friendly.

Morrison’s other right-back options are academy prospect Alex Williams, who has impressed in pre-season, and Alfie Gilchrist, on the fringes in his debut campaign last term.
