In his post, Mukiele called it a difficult night and said football has its ups and downs. He stressed the need to stand up and approach the next match with a different mindset, encouraging supporters to keep believing with four fixtures remaining.

Head coach Régis Le Bris acknowledged the incident and urged perspective, saying emotions in such moments are not rational and he would not comment on specifics. He praised the backing after the interval and said it is a big responsibility to provide the right response over the final four games.

Le Bris described the defeat as painful, noting that small drops in standards were punished before the interval and that a more energetic second half was not enough. He added that chasing a goal late on left Sunderland disorganised, which preceded Forest’s fifth.
