All the latest news surrounding Norwich City

Norwich City have enjoyed a strong end to the campaign under Philippe Clement but it hasn’t been enough to bring them into promotion contention.

The Canaries had a disastrous start to the Championship season, which led to a change in the dugout just months after Liam Manning was brought in from Bristol City.

The Norfolk outfit have worked their way back up into the top half of the second division standings.

But a gap of eight points to sixth place Hull City with just three games remaining has effectively ended their faint hopes of a top six finish, albeit they are still mathematically in the hunt.

The club will have one eye on the summer transfer window now, with their sights set on a fiercer push for promotion next year.

Here we look at all the latest news surrounding Norwich

Norwich City urged to take Harry Amass stance

Norwich agreed a loan deal with Manchester United in January to bring Harry Amass to Carrow Road, and injuries have meant he’s played just once since signing.

However, the Canaries have been linked with another loan deal for the defender ahead of the summer window.

When asked about his potential re-signing, FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes claimed he’d be open to his return.

However, he’d want the youngster’s injury monitored very closely before agreeing to any move, as the club don’t need another issue at left-back next season.

“I would be keen on this,” Downes told FLW.

“The only issue is he’s had a really bad injury, so it depends on how he comes back from that.

“If we can monitor that, see what his condition is nearer the start of the season, then that could be a good thing to do.

“He’s obviously got a lot of talent.

“There was a reason why we brought him in the first place, and I think all of our January signings, obviously apart from him, did really well, so I would imagine he would have also done really well.

“I would be up for it, but we don’t want another left-back who is always injured, so we will have to monitor how he will be and if he can get back to what he was.”

QPR are also reportedly interested in the Man United defender.

Lorent Tolaj’s Plymouth exit stance amid Norwich interest

Norwich are one of several clubs that have been linked with a potential move for Plymouth Argyle forward Lorent Tolaj ahead of the summer.

Pilgrims boss Tom Cleverley has discussed the forward’s possible exit, claiming that the club have not received any contact from rival teams regarding a deal.

The League One coach believes that Tolaj is committed to the Devon outfit, and he expects any potential sale to be quite costly given his importance to the squad.

"Neither mine or (Argyle director of football) Derek Adams's phone has received any calls but I would imagine agents are doing their thing in the background,” said Cleverley, via Plymouth Live.

"Tolly hasn't expressed anything about wanting to leave the football club, and I think you can see by his work rate and competitive spirit, before you talk about the goals, how much he loves playing for Argyle.

"Obviously, he's one of our best players, he will attract some interest and inquiries.

“Every team in the country would love a striker that can turn a draw into a win in the blink of an eye, and those do cost a lot of money."

Tolaj has contributed 17 goals and five assists from 30 League One appearances for Plymouth so far this season.

Johannes Hoff Thorup opens up on Norwich City regret

Former Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup has claimed that his one main regret from his time at Carrow Road was his lack of continuity from his coaching staff from Nordsjælland.

The Dane failed to last a whole season in charge after being dismissed last April, and he believes that he should’ve brought over more of his previous coaching team in order to succeed.

“[My coaching staff was] important. Important in the sense that I learned from Norwich that when you step into a new club, the focus is on the players,” said Thorup, via the SK Rapid podcast.

"But you actually also have to teach all the staff members your ideas so they know how I work, what my daily routines are, how we plan training sessions, how we execute them, how we give feedback, how we work with injured players, how we work with rehab players, and all these kinds of discussions.

“How goalkeeper training works, how we deal with set pieces, and I cannot do everything on my own.

“I need someone around me who knows exactly how I work and how we work, and who has been part of that.

“Actually, the more, the better.

“But I also think it is important when you go into a new club not to bring all of your own staff, but to see who is already there and find out who is interested in working in a slightly different or new way.”

Norwich City told to avoid Lorent Tolaj signing

When asked about the prospect of signing Tolaj in the summer, FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Downes claimed that it’s not a position that’s in immediate need of strengthening this summer.

He believes that the club’s focus should be on other areas, as there will be too many options in attack, even if someone like Mathias Kvistgaarden departs.

“If we can make it happen, then sure, but it’s not really a position of need,” Downes told FLW.

“It’s probably, along with centre-back, the position we don’t need to be looking at, at all, because we’ve got three strikers that want to be starting games.

“I think if Kvistgaarden leaves, which would be a shame, but I could see it happening as he doesn’t really suit Clement’s style of play, I think he’s the right player at the wrong time.

“But, if that does happen, we could be looking for another striker - a younger one who wouldn’t expect to be playing every game because Makama and Toure will expect that.

“So, this might be a good one, if we end up selling Kvistgaarden, but we do also have Ante Crnac who is either a striker or a winger, but he will be back in the fold next season.

“So, I can’t see there being too many minutes for another striker.”
