Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, 20, a leading summer target as Oliver Glasner looks to bolster his defence.
According to Nottingham Post, Forest have lodged a third bid after offers of €18m (£15m) and €20m (£17m) were rejected. Reports put the latest proposal between €21m (£18m) and €23m (£19.5m), with some suggestions it could reach €25m (£21m), a figure thought to be close to Feyenoord’s valuation. Talks are continuing.
Personal terms are not believed to be an obstacle, with Read understood to have approved a move to the City Ground. A five-year contract is reportedly in place and the Netherlands Under-21 defender is keen to test himself in the Premier League.
Read’s rapid development has previously attracted interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich. He has already featured in the Champions League and Europa League.
Forest’s window has been quiet so far, with midfielder Xaver Schlager the only arrival. The club are not expected to embark on a mass shopping spree, but a few targeted additions are anticipated.
