Nottingham Forest are widening their left-back search, with Kostas Tsimikas now under consideration amid uncertainty around Napoli defender Mathias Olivera.
Forest are said to have proposed €15 million (£13m), short of an asking price of €25 million (£21m). Football Italia reports that their approach was rebuffed and that Napoli do not intend to sell this month.
Calciomercato claims the 28-year-old has submitted a transfer request as he is keen on a Premier League move. In response, Forest are said to have increased their offer, and it is claimed talks between the clubs are ongoing.
At Roma, the Liverpool left-back has struggled for minutes. He is well known to owner Evangelos Marinakis from his time at Olympiacos, which Marinakis also owns.
According to The Athletic, Roma would be prepared to end Tsimikas’ loan early, provided they can find a replacement.
Forest have yet to add a January signing to Sean Dyche’s squad, with a striker the priority and full-back cover also sought.
Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan is set to be curtailed, with the Arsenal defender in line to join Ajax, and the club have until seven pm on February two to complete business.
