Paris Saint-Germain are just four games away from breaking a Ligue 1 record. If the already crowned league champions can maintain their current record and go undefeated for the rest of the season, they will become the first Ligue 1 team to earn invincible status.
Only one other team has come close to this feat, the 1994-95 FC Nantes side that lost only once across a 38-game season. It’s a record that has become far more important to Les Parisiens as they enter the final stretch of the campaign.
In an interview with Rothen s’enflamme on Thursday, Nuno Mendes (22) has highlighted PSG’s ambition to break this record, “We’re already champions, but if we don’t lose, it’s better for us.” He added, “I think the team always thinks about it because it’s important for us and for the club too. It gives us ambition.”
The match against OGC Nice tonight at the Parc des Princes will be PSG’s penultimate home game in Ligue 1. The club will then travel to RC Strasbourg Alsace and Montpellier HSC before hosting AJ Auxerre on the final day of the league campaign.
