A host of players from Spanish football’s two leading clubs on Tuesday secured their respective places at next summer’s World Cup.

This came owing to the final round of European qualifiers of the November break.

The headline news in Spain comes in the form of La Roja’s spot at international football’s grandest showcase being confirmed.

Following a 2-2 La Roja draw with Türkiye this evening, Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Pau Cubarsí, Pedri, Ferran Torres and Fermín López all look bound for North America in 2026.

Gavi, Eric García, Joan García and Alejandro Balde, on the other hand, now face the task of convincing Luis de la Fuente to count on them, too.

From Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid squad, meanwhile, Dean Huijsen and Dani Carvajal (fitness permitting) will be the expected inclusions.

Austria’s draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina also means that Blancos defender David Alaba is again World Cup-bound.

Thibaut Courtois, despite not taking part in the November international break, can also look forward to playing his part at next summer’s tournament, following Belgium’s demolition of Liechtenstein.
