The first UEFA Champions League game of the season is here for FC Barcelona. Taking on Newcastle United away from home, this will certainly be a troublesome game for the Catalan giants and will surely test them.
However, despite the absence of Lamine Yamal and certain other key players from the official squad for this game, Hansi Flick still has a strong squad at his disposal. Fortunately, that quality is reflected well in the starting line-up.
Here is the official starting eleven for Barça.
In goal, Joan Garcia starts and it is not surprising for anyone. The Spaniard continues to impress for La Blaugrana, and this will be his first big test on the European stage.
Ahead of him, Pau Cubarsi starts in defense with Ronald Araujo by his side. Both players will need to be composed and defensively vigilante, as Newcastle United could hurt the team at any given point.
On their flanks, Gerard Martin and Jules Kounde start as the two starting full-backs. They will likely have a lot of running to do, but fortunately both players are willing to do just that and are up for it.
In the midfield, Pedri is accompanied by Frenkie de Jong. Both players will be crucial in terms of what Barça does with possession and how effectively the ball is recovered and distributed in the heart of the pitch itself.

Right in front of them, Marcus Rashford and Raphinha start as the two wingers for Hansi Flick’s side. In between them, Fermin Lopez starts after delivering a sensational performance against Valencia.
Finally, Robert Lewandowski starts up top as he looks to have an impact for the team as a centre-forward. His experience and quality are both undeniable, and this could be a big opportunity for him to shine for Barcelona.
