Barcelona’s clash against PSG in the UEFA Champions League is expected to be the single-most hypes game of the season, especially given the form of both sides over the past year.

Developments over the past few weeks, however, have significantly dampened the excitement as both sides have seen key players injured and thus ruled out of the game.

For Barcelona, the likes of Fermin Lopez, Gavi and Joan Garcia will be unavailable on the night through injuries, while for PSG, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Marquinhos will miss out.

Availability confirmed

Also in doubt for PSG were Vitinha and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, both of whom were injured in the team’s weekend win over AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1.

Now, PSG have released the official squad list of players travelling to Catalonia to face off against Barcelona, and the status of both players has been confirmed.

In what comes as a big blow to Luis Enrique’s side, Kvaratskhelia has been ruled out of the game and has not even made the squad to travel to Spain.

Given the influence he has on the Parisiens and his versatility, he will be a big miss.

Vitinha, however, has been declared fit enough to travel, although it remains to be seen if the midfielder starts on the night. After all, he could not complete the weekend clash after his blow.

Also, as expected, Doue, Marquinhos and Dembele all miss out while Joao Neves, who was also a doubt, travels to Barcelona.

So far this season, Kvaratskhelia has played five league games for PSG and has yet to provide a goal contribution. He does, however, have a goal to his name in the UEFA Champions League.
