Defender injured in collision during Benfica game

Official: Real Madrid confirm Raul Asencio’s injury following Camavinga crash
Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio will miss the La Liga match against Getafe after suffering neck muscle injury.
The club confirmed that Raul Asencio will not be available for the match scheduled for Monday, which closes matchday 26 of the Spanish league season.
In official statement, Real Madrid said medical tests showed that Asencio is suffering from muscle tear in his neck and that his condition will continue to be monitored by the club’s medical staff.
Asencio injured during the recent match against Benfica following a heavy collision with teammate Eduardo Camavinga.
Both players jumped for the ball but Asencio took the worse impact. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the defender’s neck snapped backward in a violent movement, similar to car crash.
He was taken off the pitch on stretcher wearing neck brace and later transported to hospital for further checks under the supervision of Niko Mihic, head of the club’s medical services.
Asencio’s absence further complicates the defensive situation for head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. At the moment, Antonio Rudiger & David Alaba are the only fully fit center-backs available for the Getafe match.
