Bundesliga outfit managed to beat their top division counterparts to the punch.
Müller joins Schalke on a six-month loan. Karius’ previous backup Justin Heekeren, meanwhile, has been sold to Belgium’s RSC Anderlecht permanently. The hierarchy of the Revierklub’s goalkeeping order will remain unchanged following the like–for-like reshuffle. Karius remains one of the best keepers in the 2. Bundesliga.
“Kevin is an experienced keeper who performed strongly in many games throughout his career,” S04 personnel chief Youri Mulder noted in a club statement. Director of Professional Football. “With his hard work and leadership skills, he will fit in very well with our goalkeeping team and help the whole team in the coming months.”
“I’m really looking forward to being part of this club and this team from now on,” the player himself added. “The talks with the Schalke officials have shown that I can make a very good contribution here in the second half of the season.”
