OGC Nice have parted company with Franck Haise by mutual consent, with Claude Puel returning to take charge until the end of the season, the club said in a statement.

The shake-up follows chief executive Fabrice Bocquet's resignation on 19 December. Nice sit 13th in Ligue 1 and are bottom of their Europa League group with 0 points.

Haise had offered to resign a few weeks ago, describing himself as a potential fall guy. His assistants, Lilian Nalis and Johann Ramaré, have also left. Appointed in July 2024, he guided the team to fourth in the league last season.

In Europe his record stands at 14 matches without a win across the Europa League and a Champions League play-off. Puel previously managed Nice from 2012 to 2016. The 64-year-old's priority is to lift the team's performances.

Puel has not worked since leaving Saint-Étienne in December 2021. He is due to make his debut on Saturday at 19:00 against Strasbourg, who are seventh. Nice have not won in Ligue 1 since beating Lille 2-0 on 29 October.
