South African club Orlando Pirates has named defender Nkosinathi Sibisi as the new captain of the first team, taking over from Innocent Maela. This decision is part of a strategy focused on Sibisi's strong leadership and experience, both on and off the pitch. He will be supported by Tapelo Xoki and Mbekeli Mbokazi, who have been named vice-captains.
In his first statement as captain, Sibisi expressed his pride and determination:
"Leading a club with the stature of Orlando Pirates is a huge responsibility and an immense honor. I am committed to giving everything to guide the team to new successes."
Meanwhile, an internal source has denied rumors of an official offer from Egyptian club Pyramids FC for the young sensation Relebohile Mofokeng (20). The same source confirmed that the player is aiming for a move to Europe, with concrete interest from Dutch club Eindhoven. It's worth noting that the Pirates will kick off their new 2025/2026 season with a high-intensity match next Saturday against Polokwane City, in the MTN8 Cup quarter-finals.
