Athletic face a summer goalkeeping reshuffle, with Padilla likely to continue as deputy to Unai Simón under Terzic.

As reported by as.com, the club currently have four goalkeepers under first-team contracts, including promoted Mikel Santos, who could head to Segunda with Albacete waiting, or serve as third choice.

Julen Agirrezabala has returned from loan after Valencia chose not to activate a 12 million buy-back. Athletic will try to monetise his departure, with Deportivo negotiating a deal that includes a buy-back option and a sell-on percentage.

With Unai Simón established as number one, Padilla is expected to stay put for now. His agents have not moved him this summer despite his market in Liga MX, a loan at PUMAS two seasons ago, and his inclusion in the preliminary list of El Vasco Aguirre for the World Cup. He is under contract until June 2029.

Last season he accepted the back-up role, shelving a desired return to PUMAS once a 450,000 euros payment unlocked the situation. He impressed in the Copa against Ourense, Cultural Leonesa, Valencia and Real Sociedad.

Padilla will now try to convince Terzic to hand him more minutes across the campaign.
