Palmeiras could meet former academy goalkeeper Matheus Teixeira when they face Capivariano in the Paulistão quarter-finals, with the club from Capivari back in the top flight after 10 years.
According to Nosso Palestra, the 26-year-old is yet to debut for Capivariano in this state campaign, with Guilherme preferred and Teixeira named on the bench in five of the eight first-phase games.
Teixeira spent six years in Palmeiras' youth set-up, from under-13 to under-20 between 2013 and 2019, then joined Bahia after the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
He rose to prominence at Bahia in 2021, playing a decisive role in the Copa do Nordeste by saving penalties in the semi-finals and the final. He made 29 appearances that season, the longest run of his career.
Subsequent spells followed at Criciúma and Oita Trinita in Japan, before a move to Rio Ave for 2024/25, where he featured once. In total, he has 40 senior matches.
His January arrival was Capivariano's first signing of 2026, marking the start of the squad announcements for their return to Série A1.
This is only the club's third top-flight Paulista campaign, after 2015 and 2016 when they were relegated. This time they have secured survival and reached the knockouts for the first time.
