Palmeiras will be without Jhon Arias for the Dérbi against Corinthians after a 2-1 win over Bahia on Sunday, the midfielder collecting a third yellow card that triggers suspension.

According to Nosso Palestra, the rivalry match is set for next Sunday, 12, at Neo Química Arena in the 11th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Corinthians defender André Ramalho will also miss out after a third caution.

Arias scored one of Palmeiras’ goals in the Bahia victory, and his absence adds to Abel Ferreira’s selection headaches.

Abel could turn to Paraguayan Sosa or to Maurício. The latter could resume on the left of midfield, depending on Vitor Roque’s situation, with the forward currently injured.

The squad already has other fitness concerns. Paulinho remains in physical reconditioning, and Joaquín Piquerez is recovering from surgery on his right ankle. Vitor Roque, who has pain in his left ankle, remains a doubt, while full-back Jefté is also out with a right thigh injury.

Before the Dérbi, Palmeiras are back in action on Wednesday against Junior Barranquilla in their Copa Libertadores opener.
