Lazio claimed their first win since the turn of the new year at the Stadio Bentegodi, edging Hellas Verona 1-0 courtesy of a Victor Nelsson own goal after Manuel Lazzari’s burst into the box.
According to The Laziali, Ivan Provedel dealt with only a couple of efforts, notably parrying Domagoj Bradarić’s curler, while Adam Marusic threatened from a free-kick.
Mario Gila impressed by stepping out to progress play, Alessio Romagnoli stayed composed against Giovane, and Luca Pellegrini departed early in the second half after a vital clearance that stopped Giovane shooting at an open goal.
Matias Vecino worked tirelessly, Danilo Cataldi contributed without frills, and new signing Kenneth Taylor produced an encouraging full debut only 48 hours after arrival.
Up front, Gustav Isaksen faded, while Tijjani Noslin’s endeavour lacked control. Matteo Cancellieri improved once switched to the right in the last 20 minutes, threading the pass that released Lazzari for the decisive moment.
From the bench, Lazzari proved the unlikely super-sub even if the records denied him, and Pedro was an upgrade on Isaksen and won a dangerous free-kick. Petar Ratkov showed bright touches on debut and created a chance for Cancellieri, while Nicolo Rovella returned after four months, briefly losing Amin Sarr before Antoine Bernede missed. Reda Belahyane also featured late on.
