Arsenal are the team to beat in Europe at the moment, having won all eight of their league games and thereby topping the table.
To add to that, the North London side sit pretty at the top of the Premier League, while also in the Carabao Cup final and the last eight of the Emirates FA Cup.
The route to the last 16 of the Champions League hasn’t been as plain sailing for Bayer Leverkusen, finishing in the last seeded spot of the knockout phase after victory over Villarreal on the final matchday.
Die Werkself squeezed past Olympiacos in the round of 16 play-offs, coming out on top 0-2 in Greece before a goalless draw at the BayArena was enough to see them advance.
Often regarded as one of the best in the world in his respective position, Declan Rice could be the one to run the show in Germany.
His partnership with Martín Zubimendi this season has only strengthened Rice as a player, seeing the England international add further attacking output to his game.
For Kasper Hjulmand’s side, they will be hoping their Czech Republic striker, Patrick Schick, is fit and available for the game. The 30-year-old has been the main man for Leverkusen this season with 13 goals in all competitions.
A threat for Arsenal will come down the left-hand side in the form of Alejandro Grimaldo, who is just one goal short of Schick’s tally this season (12), with the Spaniard renowned for his attacking capabilities.
Arsenal will be confident of taking a positive result back to the Emirates for the second leg; however, the task away from home against a team that went invincible in 23/24 is no gimme.
Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal will face off on Wednesday evening at 5:45pm GMT on TNT Sports.
