The 40th matchup between the LA Galaxy and the Portland Timbers is this weekend on Sunday. The winner moves up in the MLS Western Conference standings.
For the Los Angeles, they can't move any further down them since they are dead last (15th place) in the conference. The Timbers have just one win to their season so far.
Sunday's contest is available nationally on Fox. Kickoff has been moved to 1:45 p.m (PT) and 4:45 p.m. (ET).
The Los Angeles Galaxy will be wearing their Rizon kit as they travel to Providence Park. The two teams split wins at home last season.
The game can also be viewed on MLS Season Pass. Since 2021, the LA Galaxy have gone 4-1-3 in the last eight contests against the Portland Timbers.
If defender Miki Yamane is healthy and cleared to play, look for his to start alongside Maya Yoshida, John Nelson and 17-year-old Harbor Miller.
John McCarthy should be in goal after Novak Micovic is 0-0-3 to start the season for the LA Galaxy.
Should head coach Greg Vanney elect to go with a 4-4-2 lineup again, Edwin Cerrilo, Diego Fagundez and Marco Reus could be the starting midfielders. Joining them would be Gabriel Pec as this was this formation used in the team's win on Wednesday night against Herediano.
Tucker Lepley and Miguel Berry started up top. Christian Ramirez, Julian Aude, and Elijah Wynder would be availble to sub in towards the front. That leaves Mathias Jorgensen, Axel Essengue and Carlos Garces to come in off the bench for the backline.
These two teams will face each other again later next month. The game will be played on Sunday, April 27th at Dignity Health Sports Park.
