West Ham United are eyeing a move for striker Promise David as they look to replace wantaway Niclas Fullkrug.
The West Ham frontline is crying out for a younger striker to lead the line, and they have identified David as a candidate to fill the gap.
However, according to talkSPORT, David is ‘reluctant’ to swap Champions League football for a relegation-threatened club, ruling West Ham out of the race.
David has sparkled in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise, bagging 34 goals in 65 outings to catch the attention of top clubs across Europe.
West Ham have to move on from the promising Canadian centre-forward, but look set to face failure elsewhere.
Ivan Toney is another striker on the Hammers’ shortlist, but he is also unlikely to move, with journalist Ben Jacobs downplaying the possibility.
He reportedly doesn’t want to exit Al-Ahli just yet, leaving West Ham in a tricky position.
With David and Toney effectively off the table, West Ham must pivot quickly and smartly.
The winter transfer window will not wait for them, and neither will the relegation battle bubbling beneath their feet.
That urgency should push the Irons toward a more realistic, high-upside option, such as Newcastle United’s William Osula.
The Magpies have underused the Dane, but he has shown signs of real promise, with three goals and an assist in 14 appearances.
He is rangy, quick, aggressive in the press, and mature beyond his years in his movement.
Osula runs channels relentlessly, holds off defenders, and has already shown he can handle the Premier League’s physical demands.
With Yoane Wissa returning to fitness and pushing him further down the pecking order, this is precisely the moment for the Hammers to strike.
The 22-year-old should be the top target to solve the centre-forward problem at the London Stadium.
