French giants could be without two key men for Spurs clash
Tottenham have been handed a huge boost ahead of their key Champions League encounter with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the month.
Spurs travel to Paris looking to avenge their UEFA Super Cup defeat by the Champions League holders back in August, on Thomas Frank’s European debut.
The north Londoners sit seventh in the Champions League table, still unbeaten in the four games they have played.
They defeated Copenhagen 4-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last time out, while Paris, third in the table, were beaten 2-1 by Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich.
The result was not the only negative for Luis Enrique at the Parc des Princes, as the Spaniard saw two of his star players forced off with injuries.
Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele hobbled off after just 25 minutes, despite starting for just the second time since returning from a hamstring problem.
Right-back Achraf Hakimi then followed in first-half additional time, with the Moroccan in tears as he was helped off the pitch.
The defender had jarred his left ankle under challenge from former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who saw red.
The Colombian had notched a first-half brace to get the Bundesliga champions ahead, before he was sent for an early bath following his challenge on Hakimi.
Joao Neves pulled one back for PSG, but that proved to be just a consolation.
"That's football, it's a contact sport," Enrique said of the injuries.
"It's a shame because it’s complicated for the players but I remember the injury [Jamal] Musiala got in the summer [at the Club World Cup] and it is just one of those moments of bad luck."
It remains to be seen how long both Dembele and Hakimi are out for, but it is likely that the pair will not play a part against Tottenham when Frank’s side visit the French capital on November 26.
