Paris Saint-Germain have no plans to pursue a move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri despite recent reports linking the Spain international with a switch to the European champions.

According to Sky Sports News, PSG have no intention of strengthening in central midfield this summer and have not considered making an approach for the 30-year-old. The club are satisfied with their existing options, having relied on the midfield trio of Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz and João Neves during their Champions League final victory last season.

The update effectively ends speculation that Rodri could be one of PSG’s marquee signings this summer. While the Spaniard remains one of Europe’s most admired midfielders, the Ligue 1 champions are prioritising other areas of their squad rather than reshaping the centre of the pitch.

Rodri’s reputation has only grown after captaining Spain to World Cup glory this summer. The Manchester City midfielder was also named the tournament’s Golden Ball winner after being recognised as the competition’s outstanding player, adding another individual honour to an already distinguished career.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have no desire to lose one of their most influential players. Rodri has entered the final year of his contract, and the Premier League club are keen to tie him down to fresh terms rather than entertain transfer interest.

The midfielder is currently recovering from minor back surgery and is expected to miss the opening weeks of the new season. Despite that setback, City continue to view him as a central figure in Enzo Maresca’s plans once he returns to full fitness.

Although PSG have ruled themselves out, Rodri is unlikely to disappear from the transfer headlines altogether. Sky Sports News adds that Real Madrid retain a long-term interest in the Spain international, but for now the midfielder’s immediate focus remains on his recovery and an eventual return to action at the Etihad Stadium.
