PSG have released a statement this Sunday morning to condemn the French national team’s handling of two of their players, Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué. The PSG strikers have both picked up injuries during France’s 2-0 away win over Ukraine as part of their campaign to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. According to PSGLes Parisiens have sent a letter to the French FA before the start of the international break, which included “concrete medical data on the bearable workload and the risks of injuries of its players”.

PSG add that this letter has not been taken into account by France’s medical department. Doué started on the right wing against Ukraine, but he had to pull out at half-time. The former Rennes Academy product has picked up a right calf strain that is expected to put him out of action for the next four weeks. As for Dembélé, who came on at half-time to replace Doué before pulling out as well, the former Barcelona winger will be out for at least six weeks with a “severe right hamstring injury.”

PSG call for the implementation of a new coordination protocol between clubs and national teams, “to make players’ health and their medical support an absolute priority.” The Ligue 1 side also laments the total lack of consultation and collaboration with France’s medical staff. PSG conclude by saying the “serious and avoidable” incidents on Friday must result in swift and immediate corrective action.
