Paris Saint-Germain will file a civil case in response to monkey chants aimed at the team after their UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Emirates stadium on Tuesday, Get French Football News understands.
As the PSG team made their way back to the team bus after their 1-0 win over Arsenal, a group of five individuals were filmed making monkey chants towards the team. The video, captured by the PSG team and shared by RMC Sport, shows the incident, which was quickly shut down. RMC Sport understands that the monkey chants were made each time a black PSG player passed them.
The incident has been condemned by Arsenal. “We strongly condemn all forms of racism and discrimination. We are working to identify the individuals in this video and will take the strongest possible action,” read a statement made to The Mirror.
Get French Football News understands that PSG will file a civil case in the wake of the incident. SOS Racisme and Sportitude will also file cases in the coming days and the two anti-racist NGOs are currently awaiting a response from Arsenal in order to identify the individuals.
