VI are reporting that Rangers striker Danilo is set to join NEC Nijmegen on loan. Rangers had reportedly been hoping to sell Danilo to Paris FC in Ligue 1, but the striker is said to have preferred a move to highly flying NEC in the Eredivisie. With Kento Shiogai having left this winter, NEC were in the market for a new striker and have been able to convince Danilo to join them. Reports suggest that a purchase option is unlikely to be agreed between the Dutch club and Rangers.

The 26-year-old Brazilian is no stranger to Dutch football and is set to make his return just a few years after leaving Feyenoord for Rangers. During the 2020/2021 season he announced himself while on loan at Twente from Ajax. In 34 games he scored 17 goals, with eigh in 17 for Ajax on his return. At the end of the 2022 season he left Ajax to sign for Feyenoord on a free transfer. During the 2022/2023 season he scored 14 goals in 48 games, earning himself a move to Rangers.

Danilo has not quite been able to hit the same heights during his time with Rangers. During his first season he scored six goals in 21 games with four assists. He had exactly the same numbers last season, albeit from 27 games. This year he has managed 28 games, with four goals and two assists. For NEC, it really is a no brainer to bring Danilo back to the Eredivisie and the hope will be that he can ensure the side remain on course for a strong finish to the current campaign.
