The Ivorian forward Yan Diomande is expected to be the most expensive signing for Real Madrid this summer, even though the Merengues have already brought in five other players and are being linked with even more players.

Los Blancos and the player agreed upon personal terms some weeks ago, and some reports suggested that they also have an agreement in place with his club, RB Leipzig. However, the Bundesliga club’s sporting director recently made it clear that this is not the case, which raised some doubts about this transfer, as it has unexpectedly dragged on.

In such a context, Mundo Deportivo reports that this operation is in its last stages, as both clubs resumed negotiations on Tuesday, and a final agreement can be reached in the coming few days. The groundwork for an agreement was already laid at the start of the last week.

Once this transfer is complete, Diomande will become the most expensive player to have been signed by Real Madrid in their entire history. The report claims that the Merengues will pay €130 million in fixed fees and will also include add-ons that can reach up to €10 million. Thus, the Ivorian will cost them more than Eden Hazard (€120 million) and Jude Bellingham (€110 million plus add-ons).

The forward trained with RB Leipzig on Wednesday, as his operation has still not been finalized. However, Real Madrid are planning for him to be signed soon and to have him in training at Valdebebas before the current week ends.

Once this signing is complete, the Merengues can turn their attention to another notable target, the Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez. Recent reports suggested that Real Madrid had put this transfer operation on hold, as they wanted to complete Yan Diomande’s signing as soon as possible, and it seems like they will achieve this latter objective in the coming few days.
