Real Madrid know that, sooner rather than later, they must address the situation of superstar forward Vinicius Jr.

The Brazilian international’s contract with Los Blancos expires in 2027, meaning he will enter the final year of his deal next summer.

Real Madrid have been trying to convince him to renew his contract, but talks have stalled due to the player’s demands as well as his tense relationship with manager Xabi Alonso.

Real Madrid to issue ultimatum

Now, according to OK Diario, Real Madrid have drawn up the so called ‘Vinicius plan’, which entails two scenarios: renewal before the summer or a sale.

In recent months, the club and the player’s camp have held several meetings without managing to unblock a situation that seems stagnant.

Even so, Real Madrid have decided to try to persuade the player to sign a new contract that ties him to the club for the foreseeable future, first for sporting reasons and then for financial motives.

From the sporting sense, the Brazilian is still seen as a fundamental piece for the team’s future. For that reason, the priority remains the same: extend his contract.

On the financial side, Real Madrid stress that they want to obtain a return on the investment made when they signed him in 2018.

His arrival, his development and the institutional and media support he has received represent an effort that the club does not wish to lose without compensation.

“If he leaves now and they pay, there is no problem; but if he stays without renewing, he risks leaving for free”, say sources close to the board.

Real Madrid assumed that after the Club World Cup, Vinicius would sign a contract that was already agreed. However, the player broke his word and chose not to renew.

The Brazilian surprised the club by demanding a renewal bonus that they consider unacceptable, while keeping an eye on the possibility of leaving for free in 2027 and securing a large signing bonus elsewhere.

Within the club, there is a sense of disappointment with the player’s stance. They believe he has been given differential treatment both economically and personally, with constant care on and off the pitch.

They also highlight the many public and private gestures of support he has received, especially during difficult moments.

Real Madrid’s wish remains that Vinicius continues, and the club will work to achieve this. But if it is not possible, they will not hesitate to listen to offers when they come, because none has been presented yet.

The stance from the top of the club is clear: there will be no renewal bonus, and if an adequate offer arrives, it will be considered without drama.
