Real Madrid look set to have no natural right-back options available for the season’s first edition of El Clásico.
This comes owing to developments in Los Blancos’ derby meeting with Atlético Madrid.
Real Madrid were of course back in action on Saturday night, making the short trip across Spain’s capital for a showdown with Diego Simeone’s Atléti.
When all was said and done, Xabi Alonso’s troops were left red-faced, by way of a 5-2 defeat.
The visitors’ woes, though, did not end there.
In addition, Real were dealt not one, but two blows on the personnel front. After Éder Militão was hauled off at the interval, Dani Carvajal followed suit on the hour mark.
The latter, it has since been revealed, is facing up to a spell of around four weeks on the treatment table.
This adds to pre-existing problems for Xabi Alonso and co. at right-back, with Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined long-term at present, too.
Ahead of next month’s La Liga showdown with arch rivals Barcelona, Real Madrid therefore look set to have no natural senior right-back options fit for action.
