Real Madrid receive positive Mbappe update ahead of Oviedo clash | OneFootball

According to an update from Jose Luis Sanchez in El Chiringuito TV, Real Madrid are becoming increasingly optimistic that Kylian Mbappe will be available for the upcoming clash against Real Oviedo after showing encouraging signs in training.

The French superstar missed the recent El Clasico against Barcelona after suffering discomfort shortly before the game, dealing a huge blow to Real Madrid ahead of one of the season’s most important fixtures.

At the time, there had been a strong belief inside the club that Mbappe would still be able to feature. However, events changed dramatically in the final hours before kickoff.

The turning point came during the final training session before the Clasico, when Mbappe was forced to stop during the closing stages after feeling discomfort in his hamstring area, immediately creating concern inside Valdebebas.

The situation worsened on the morning of the match itself when the forward ultimately did not board the flight to Barcelona with the rest of the squad.

Now, though, the atmosphere surrounding his condition appears far more positive.

What’s the story?

Just days after missing El Clasico, Mbappe returned to full group training and completed the entire session without any visible problems.

It is said that the Frenchman participated normally in all exercises, including sprint work, shooting drills and physical duels, giving Real Madrid fresh hope regarding his immediate return.

Hence, the feeling is that Mbappe is currently “on course” to feature against Real Oviedo on Thursday.

There is still some uncertainty regarding how exactly he would be used if declared fully fit. 

The coaching staff is understood to be considering whether to start him immediately or instead ease him back gradually after the recent scare.

At the moment, however, what is certain is that he will at least be included in the squad.

Even so, nobody wants to make definitive guarantees too early, given how quickly the previous situation changed despite positive signs initially emerging there as well.

Ultimately, much of the final decision will depend on Mbappe himself and how comfortable he feels physically over the coming days.
