A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is adamant that he is yet to win a Champions League title in his career.
The player in question? Arda Güler.
Youngster Arda is for his part of course in the midst of a stellar opening to the campaign to date.
Finally afforded the kind of prominence which he was so looking seeking in Spain’s capital, the 20-year-old has responded with a string of stellar performances under the watch of Xabi Alonso.
Prior to as much, over the last couple of seasons, though, he was forced to make do with something of a bit-part role under Carlo Ancelotti.
In his debut term in Blancos colours, in 2023/24, the Spanish heavyweights managed to secure glory in the Champions League.
But as alluded to above, if his latest comments are anything to go by, then Arda does not consider as much to be a title of his own.
After making just a solitary appearance in the competition, the Turk this week admitted during an interview with L’Équipe that:
“The 2023/24 Champions League? I never won it. It wasn’t mine. We have to go and get a new one.”
