According to an update shared by Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that David Alaba intends to stay at Real Madrid for the final year of his contract, which runs until 2026.

Even though the club has opened the door for him to leave on a free transfer this summer, the 33-year-old has no intention of walking away just yet.

Alaba, who recently recovered from a serious injury, is determined to prove his worth and is not ready to step aside.

Despite stiff competition in central defence, with players like Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, Raul Asencio, and new signing Dean Huijsen ahead of him, Alaba remains confident that he can turn things around.

High salary and contract security

One of the main reasons Alaba is holding firm is financial. With a gross salary of €22.5 million per year, he is the second-highest-paid player in the squad.

With only one year remaining on his deal, he is unwilling to let go of that figure. Real Madrid had reportedly offered to settle part of his contract to release him early, but Alaba rejected that idea immediately as he wants the full amount, and there is no room for negotiation.

From the club’s side, their preference is clear. They would like to transfer him this summer, with Saudi Arabian clubs being the most likely buyers, especially since their transfer window remains open until September 23.

However, as things stand, no firm offers have materialised, and time is running out.

Real Madrid are expected to keep pushing for a solution, but unless a club is willing to take on his full salary, Alaba looks set to remain in Madrid, at least for now.
