Birmingham City head coach Chris Davies has admitted it's 'unlikely' his side will make the play-offs following a narrow defeat to Charlton Athletic.
Birmingham City head coach Chris Davies has issued a fresh verdict on his side's Championship play-off chances after a crushing loss away at Charlton Athletic this weekend.
Blues fell to their 13th defeat of the season at The Valley on Saturday, after a Charlie Kelman strike 15 minutes from time proved to be the deciding goal, earning the Addicks a vital three points in their bid to stay in the Championship.
The defeat left the reigning League One champions 12th in the table, eight points behind sixth-place side Wrexham, who also have a game in hand on the Midlands-based club.
In the wake of the defeat to Charlton, Birmingham chief Davies offered a rather damning assessment of his side's play-off prospects, admitting to BBC West Midlands it was 'unlikely' they would secure a top six finish this term.
Davies finds himself under pressure from supporters, with the Blues enduring a rather underwhelming campaign in comparison to where they'd hoped to have been, and this latest admission will come as another disappointment for Bluenoses.

Saturday was a disappointing day for Birmingham, who failed to make up some ground on the play-off places as they would've hoped, and now look resigned to the fact they'll be playing Championship football again next season.
Kelman's second-half strike was enough to put the Blues to the sword in Southeast London, which saw Blue boss Davies make a rather damning claim regarding his side's chances of a top six finish this season in his post-match interview.
The 40-year-old told BBC Radio WM after his side's defeat in the capital: "I think it would be unlikely that we'd go and make the play-offs with the amount of points we'd have to get.
"We'd have to have some incredible run, which I know been done here before, but first things first, we need to get back to winning ways.
"It was another disappointing result. We didn't do enough to win the game. It was a game of very, very few chances.
"We had some decent situations in the second half but didn't capitalise on when we had the momentum.
"It's such a soft way to lose - from a long throw into the box, bouncing ball, scrappy goal. It's very frustrating.
"We've got to do more. We can't expect to win if, in those critical moments, we don't defend well enough.
"I'm really frustrated. It was a game we let get away from us and I expected more. We've got to learn, and we really need to pull together now and finish the season strong," the Birmingham head coach concluded.
This admission will come as a huge disappointment to supporters, who had hoped to be pushing for back-to-back promotions this season, but that simply hasn't come to fruition this time around.

Davies guided his side to a record-breaking season in League One last year, winning the title in emphatic fashion, but the club's return to the Championship has been somewhat underwhelming thus far.
With 10 games to go, Birmingham now have a mammoth task to try and break into the play-off places, and given the money spent by the club this season, Tom Wagner could be seeking a new man to take the team to the next level.
Whilst the 40-year-old has undeniably done a good job on the whole, some may feel he's taken the team as far as he possibly can, which has lead to the Blues being stuck in mid-table, rather than towards the top of the division.
This latest admission won't help his case much either, as it seems the Birmingham head coach is pretty much resigned to spending another season in the second tier of English football, with 30 points still up for grabs.
