Joey O’Brien’s Reds will face their first pre-season friendly of the 2026 campaign this weekend.

Having enjoyed a shortened off-season, owing to the club’s 2025 European adventure in the UEFA Conference League, the Reds will ramp up preparations for the upcoming League of Ireland Premier Division season.

The new season starts with a trip to the RSC to face Waterford on Feb 6th. In advance of that, the Reds will face a series of pre-season fixtures across the rest of January. The squad returned to pre-season training last month, with recent sessions focused on building fitness and sharpness ahead of the new campaign.

Preparation now turns firmly to on-pitch action as the Reds continue their build-up towards the competitive season ahead.

First up for O’Brien’s side will be a meeting with Wexford FC tomorrow Saturday 17 January. One week later, Shelbourne will take on Bohemian FC on Saturday 24 January.

The Reds then face Bray Wanderers on Friday 30 January, before concluding their pre-season schedule against Longford Town on Saturday 31 January.

All games will be played behind closed doors unless otherwise advised in advance. The Reds U20 side will continue to represent the club in the Leinster Senior Cup.
