Lucasz Fabianski appears to be in a better than feared position after coming off injured against Southampton.
The Hammers goalkeeper collided nastily with Saints player Wood, which resulted in the experienced keeper having to be removed from the game via a stretcher.
The scene was an alarming one, with much time utilised to get him in a stable position before being taken back to the changing room, with a high expectation that he’d be taken to hospital.
However, that wasn’t the case thankfully, as it was reported than Fabianski was conscious and alert following the win, with the injury understood to be shoulder related.
At this stage it’s not known the extent of the injury and how long the goalkeeper will be required to recover, although the hope will be that Alphonse Areola will now be in a position to step up and reclaim the number one spot under Julen Lopetegui.
A clearer prognosis on Fabianski is expected within the coming days, although at this stage it’s highly unlikely he’ll be available for the Liverpool match on the 29th December.
