Chelsea are among a number of clubs keeping tabs on Rennes striker Mohamed Kader Meite according to reports.
The Blues were expected to be quiet in January, but their plans have changed and the club are now looking to bring in a centre back and possibly a midfielder.
Chelsea have identified Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet as their primary target at centre back, whilst Douglas Luiz has been identified as a short term solution in midfield.
However, Chelsea are yet to make an offer for either player, and it will be interesting to see what they do between now and the end of the window.
The Blues are also always on the lookout for the best young talents in world football, and it appears they may have another on their radar.

Caught Offside have reported the Blues are among the clubs to have sent scouts to watch Kader Meïté in action for Rennes.
The report adds Manchester United, Brighton, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Brentford have all done the same, whilst Crystal Palace are said to have made a formal enquiry earlier this month.
Caught Offside state there’s also interest from the Saudi Pro League, with Al Hilal thought to have tabled an offer of around €40m, but he’s not believed to be keen on a move to the middle east at this stage of his career.
The 18-year-old has scored three goals in 19 appearances for Rennes this season, but is believed to be highly rated.
Whilst Chelsea are keeping an eye on Kader Meïté, they already have a striker arriving at the end of the season.
