Paris Saint-Germain have made discreet enquiries about Erling Haaland’s long-term situation at Manchester City, according to a report by TeamTalk. It is a familiar theme in the modern game, Europe’s wealthiest clubs scanning the horizon for the next seismic move, even when the player in question appears firmly anchored.

Haaland signed a near decade long contract last January, a commitment that underlined both his satisfaction at the Etihad Stadium and City’s determination to build around him. Yet, as TeamTalk outline, the scale of that agreement has not deterred admirers. Barcelona and Real Madrid are said to believe that release clauses could one day open the door to Spain, reflecting the long-standing narrative around the striker’s ambitions.
PSG, for their part, have now asked to be kept informed of any developments. Sources in Paris insist their interest is not connected to the growing uncertainty surrounding Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele’s situation has become increasingly fraught. After a damaging domestic defeat to Rennes, he reportedly said, “If we play as individuals, it won’t work,” comments that unsettled the dressing room. Luis Enrique was swift in his response, describing the remarks as “worthless”, adding: “The players’ statements after the match are worthless. Absolutely worthless. I will not allow any player to think they are more important than the club.”

Tensions escalated further during the Champions League clash at Monaco. Dembele was withdrawn before the half hour, and his replacement inspired a 3-2 win. The optics were difficult to ignore.
Intermediaries have since begun exploring options, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea all contacted over a potential move. Only a small pool of clubs could contemplate the finances involved.
For City, this feels more like background noise than imminent threat. Haaland’s importance to Pep Guardiola’s side is beyond debate, his goals decisive in tight contests and defining in title races. PSG monitoring the situation is logical from their perspective, yet prising him away from Manchester would require circumstances that currently do not exist.
Football’s transfer landscape shifts quickly, but for now the balance of power remains with City and the player. The enquiry may be noteworthy, but it is far from transformative.
For Manchester City supporters, this report will barely register as cause for concern. Haaland committed his prime years to the club, and that decision carried weight. It reflected trust in the project, trust in Guardiola, and trust in the environment that has consistently delivered major honours.
PSG making contact feels predictable rather than threatening. Elite clubs do due diligence, they explore possibilities, they position themselves early. That does not mean a deal is close. City supporters will point to the contract length, the structure around the squad, and the team’s sustained competitiveness as powerful counterweights to any external interest.
There is also a sense that City’s recruitment model is prepared for every eventuality. If Haaland were ever to depart, it would be on City’s terms and likely for a transformative fee. Until then, the focus remains on silverware, not speculation.
