Joe Rodon has etched his name into Leeds United history, becoming the first outfield player since club legend Norman Hunter to make 100 consecutive league or play-off appearances for the Whites.

The Welsh international hit the milestone during Wednesday night’s 3-1 win over Chelsea at Elland Road - a result that strengthened Leeds’ Premier League credentials and underlined Rodon’s integral role under Daniel Farke.

Not since Hunter’s run of 113 straight outings between September 1962 and April 1965 has a Leeds outfield player managed such durability and consistency. Rodon, 28, has now reached a century of games in a row across league and play-off fixtures, an achievement rarely seen in the modern game.

His streak began on 4 October 2023 in a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers. Since then, Rodon has played 8,970 minutes for the club, featuring in every league and play-off match and only once being substituted – a testament to both his resilience and importance to the side.

After the win over Chelsea, manager Daniel Farke praised Rodon’s professionalism and mentality.

“He’s my warrior and also a key player for us, and he always has an unbelievable attitude. It says a lot about him, especially nowadays, to play one hundred games in a row is amazing on this level,” Farke said.

“You can only achieve this if you are a super professional in all aspects. You look after your body, you look after your recovery, after good nutrition, good sleep, and in these terms, Joe is a role model. He’s always motivated, always there, and still improving as a player.”
